Denmark's tax authority, as an extension of the Danish government, may sue U.S. pension funds over allegations of participating in a scheme to bilk the agency out of $2.1 billion, the agency recently told a New York federal court.

A New York-based pension plan denied allegations it was involved in an international scheme to bilk the Danish tax agency of $1.9 billion, while launching its own claims on Monday demanding a tax refund the agency has refused to pay.
