Coventry Health Care Inc. on Tuesday won a federal judge's preliminary approval of a $7.6 million settlement with a putative class of medical clinics alleging they were underpaid under preferred provider organization contracts for workers' compensation medical bills.

An Oregon federal judge on Tuesday granted class certification to a group of medical clinics over claims a unit of health plan operator Coventry Health Care Inc. had underpaid on workers' compensation reimbursement claims, ruling the potential class members were all subject to the same reimbursement procedure.
