Guidant Sues St. Jude Over Salespeople Recruitment

Law360, New York (September 23, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Guidant Corp. has sued rival St. Jude Medical for poaching employees, accusing the competing medical-device maker of purposely damaging its sales force and its relationships with customers in Maryland.

St. Jude offered Guidant’s employees “bounties” of up to $50,000 for each Guidant employee they hired and paid newly hired employees from its rival “extremely large” financial bonuses, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed in the Ramsey County Courthouse in St. Paul, Minnesota, where Guidant is headquartered.
