National Broadband To Aid Jobs, Schools, Health: FCC

Law360, New York (February 19, 2010, 3:51 PM EST) -- The Federal Communications Commission has unveiled its working recommendations for encouraging the development of broadband technology in the U.S., emphasizing the role of broadband technology in creating jobs, reducing health care costs and improving education.

The working recommendations, announced Thursday, are part of the FCC's effort to deliver a comprehensive national broadband plan to Congress. Under the federal stimulus bill, the agency is charged with coming up with a plan by March 17 that would use stimulus money to fund broadband development.
