Judge Reverses Damages In Landmark AWH Case

Law360, New York (January 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- In a surprising turnaround in the landmark Phillips v. AWH patent case, a federal judge has quashed a $1.85 million jury verdict reached last year and entered judgment as a matter of law in favor of the defendants.

The order from the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado was a reversal of fortune for defendants AWH Corp., Hopeman Brothers and Lofton Corp., after the trio’s defense was rejected last year following a high-profile federal appeal.
