CIT Chucks Canex's Case Over Lumber Imports

Law360, New York (June 29, 2010, 7:22 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of International Trade has dismissed Canex International Lumber Sales Ltd.’s case alleging U.S. Customs and Border Protection gave improper notice before liquidating the company’s lumber products and misclassified them.

Chief Judge Jane A. Restani of the CIT on Tuesday granted the U.S. government summary judgment, finding that Customs did not violate the law when it liquidated Canex’s imports and that the agency correctly classified Canex’s products as sawn lumber.
