Spanish Energy Cos. Fined €2.3M By Antitrust Watchdog

Law360, New York (September 23, 2011, 8:13 PM EDT) -- Spain’s antitrust regulator on Friday hit divisions of energy giants HC Energia and Gas Natural SDG SA with €2.3 million ($3.1 million) in fines for abusing their positions as energy suppliers to gain an unfair advantage in the electrical installation market.

The Comision Nacional de la Competencia fined Union Fenosa Distribution SA €1.93 million and levied €365,000 in fines on Hidrocantabrico Distribution in connection with two separate investigations that began in 2007 and 2008, according to a statement from the CNC.
