Sonoco, Insurers Seek $15M From Toshiba For Plant Fire

Law360, New York (November 4, 2011, 2:35 PM EDT) -- Packaging company Sonoco Products Co. and its insurers sued Toshiba International Co. for more than $15 million in Louisiana on Thursday, arguing a fire that engulfed a Sonoco manufacturing plant stemmed from a faulty Toshiba hydraulic pump motor.

In a suit filed in Louisiana federal court, Sonoco, Ace American Insurance Co., Great Lakes Insurance Co., and others that provided property insurance to Sonoco argued that Toshiba must cover damages arising from the November 2010 fire, along with maximum legal interest and court costs.
