Toyota Recalls 680K Autos Over Air Bags, Brake Lamps

Law360, New York (March 8, 2012, 12:51 PM EST) -- Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. announced two major recalls Wednesday, pulling nearly 500,000 Tacoma trucks over an air bag issue and 186,500 Camry and Venza vehicles over a brake lamp switch problem that could prevent the cars from starting.

The Tacomas' steering wheel spiral cable could rub against the retainer in the spiral cable assembly, which could cause the driver's air bag module to disconnect, Toyota said. The air bag might not deploy during an accident if the module is disconnected, according to the carmaker....
