FDA Backs Medtronic Heart Device For Many More Patients

Law360, New York (April 10, 2012, 6:14 PM EDT) -- Federal regulators have given Medtronic Inc. their blessing to use a specialized implantable defibrillator for treatment of mild heart failure, potentially bringing the company’s technology to hundreds of thousands of new patients, Medtronic said Tuesday.

The company’s device, a cardioverter-defibrillator that uses resynchronization therapy, has been approved for more than a decade in patients with moderate to severe heart failure.
