Duke, Reliant Tossed From Natural Gas MDL

Law360, New York (August 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- On the heels of dismissing one defendant, a federal judge has bounced Duke Energy Carolinas Inc. and Reliant Energy Inc. from a portion of the wide-ranging multidistrict litigation in which a number of energy companies have been accused of raising and fixing prices for natural gas in western states.

On Friday, U.S. District Judge Philip Pro chucked the antitrust claims against two of the defendant energy companies, citing lack of personal jurisdiction in the case brought by plaintiff Breckenridge Brewery of Colorado.
