NRC Calls For Nuke Plant Checks In Wake Of Flaw Discovery

Law360, New York (July 30, 2012, 8:47 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission told the nation’s nuclear operators Friday to check their plants for a design vulnerability it discovered at an Illinois facility, saying the problem could jeopardize emergency equipment.

In a special bulletin, the NRC called on all 104 operating nuclear power plants in the U.S. to turn over information on their electric power system designs to check for flaws that have the potential to damage plants’ emergency cooling systems.
