Insurer Hit With $11M Verdict In Plant Shutdown Suit

Law360, Chicago (September 28, 2012, 9:25 PM EDT) -- A Missouri federal jury awarded $11 million to Tamko Building Products Inc. on Thursday in the roofing materials maker's suit demanding coverage from Factory Mutual Insurance Co. for business losses it suffered during a plant shutdown tied to an off-site oil pipeline leak.

The verdict came on the fourth day of trial that followed U.S. District Judge Catherine Perry's ruling last month that the insurer does owe Tamko coverage because the damage to the oil pipeline occurred at a location the company's insurance policy covered....
