Drilling Companies Face Off In Patent Suit

Law360 (October 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Louisiana drilling products company Drill Tech Environmental Services Inc. has filed suit against a rival, seeking declaratory judgment of noninfringement of a patent covering technology relating to the recovery of copolymer beads used in oil and gas drilling.

In a complaint filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Drill Tech claimed that its products do not infringe Sun Drilling Products Corp.’s patent for a copolymer bead recovery unit, and alleged that the patent is invalid and unenforceable.
