Japan Takes China To WTO Over Steel Tube Duties

Law360, New York (December 20, 2012, 4:18 PM EST) -- Japan lodged a formal complaint with the World Trade Organization on Thursday over China's recent decision to impose anti-dumping duties on Japanese steel tubes, saying the measures don't mesh with the world body's rules.

The country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said it had asked the WTO for bilateral consultations with China, which enacted the dumping tariffs on high-performance stainless steel seamless tubes from Japan early last month. Japan sold $72 million of the tubes to China last year.
