Bristol-Myers Escapes $3.4B Apotex Suit Over Plavix Deal
Law360, Miami (March 14, 2013, 5:56 PM EDT) -- Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. and partner Sanofi-Aventis SA won a defense verdict Wednesday in a $3.4 billion suit in which generic-drug maker Apotex Inc. alleged the companies breached a patent litigation settlement over blood thinner Plavix by lying to antitrust regulators.
After a nine-day trial in the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida, a jury returned a unanimous verdict for the defendants in the dispute over a 2006 settlement that a consortium of state attorneys general and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission rejected.
