Pa. Gov. Resists Dismissal Of AG In Gay Marriage Suit

Law360, Philadelphia (January 2, 2014, 2:15 PM EST) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett on Monday opposed Attorney General Kathleen Kane and pro-same-sex marriage plaintiffs' joint petition that aims to dismiss Kane from a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of a 1996 state law banning gay marriage, arguing that both he and Kane should not have to defend themselves against the challenge.

Corbett said that in spite of Kane’s publicized opposition to the law, they both share an identical legal relationship to the lawsuit, and that if Kane is dismissed, he should be dismissed as well....
