Wacker Chemie Unit Pays $205M For Control Of Samsung JV

Law360, New York (January 24, 2014, 2:20 PM EST) -- Silicon wafer manufacturer Siltronic AG will take over a majority stake in its Singapore-based joint venture with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. for about €150 million ($205 million), the company said Friday, putting Siltronic in control of the global semiconductor joint venture.

Siltronic, a subsidiary of chemical giant Wacker Chemie AG, will increase its ownership in the joint venture from 50 percent to 78 percent, while Samsung's ownership will drop from 50 percent to 22 percent. The joint venture will be renamed Siltronic Silicon Wafer Pte. Ltd....
