Printing Co.'s $35M Jury Award In Antitrust Row Trimmed

Law360, New York (January 21, 2015, 1:38 PM EST) -- A Connecticut federal judge on Tuesday ruled that $35 million in compensatory damages awarded to MacDermid Printing Solutions LLC in its antitrust and trade secrets theft suit against former partner Cortron Corp. were excessive, saying he would order a new trial unless MacDermid agreed to a reduced award.

Even though he trimmed MacDermid’s compensatory damages award to about $20 million because awards for some of the state claims were duplicative, U.S. District Judge Michael P. Shea granted the company's motion for punitive damages, awarding it $27.5 million.
