UAW Revved Up For Automotive Industry’s Tough Fight

Law360, New York (June 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. automotive industry may be facing a grim outlook, but the United Auto Workers is ready to meet the challenges crippling the bankruptcy-plagued sector, according to union leadership.

“Like it or not, the challenges we face aren't the kind that can be ridden out,” said union president Ron Gettelfinger during opening remarks at the labor organization’s constitutional convention in Las Vegas. “They demand new and far-sighted solutions—and we must be an integral part of developing those solutions.”
