TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. and Avago Technologies Ltd. on Thursday settled a contentious patent infringement battle in which TriQuint accused its rival of gobbling up patents and engaging in anti-competitive behavior to maintain an illegal monopoly on certain cellphone technology.

Avago Technologies Ltd. asked an Arizona federal judge Monday to sanction rival TriQuint Semiconductor Inc. for allegedly destroying evidence that would have supported Avago's counterclaims in a suit by TriQuint alleging patent infringement and monopolistic behavior.
