Tew Cardenas LLP and a former attorney with the firm emerged victorious Monday in a legal malpractice suit in Florida brought by an aviation insurer accusing them of bungling a settlement stemming from an accident that left a teenage boy with brain damage.

A Florida federal judge on Tuesday rejected a former Tew Cardenas LLP lawyer's assertion that an aviation insurer cannot sue him for allegedly bungling a plane hangar accident settlement, ruling the attorney represented the insurer as well as the insured.
