Builders Settle 'Kids For Cash' Class Actions For $18M
Mericle Construction Inc. and its president agreed Friday to pay about $17.8 million to settle several class actions over the notorious "kids for cash" scheme, which ended in prison sentences for judges who allegedly took $2.8 million in kickbacks to steer juvenile offenders to private detention centers.
