A Connecticut federal judge on Tuesday ruled that $35 million in compensatory damages awarded to MacDermid Printing Solutions LLC in its antitrust and trade secrets theft suit against former partner Cortron Corp. were excessive, saying he would order a new trial unless MacDermid agreed to a reduced award.

A Connecticut federal jury on Tuesday awarded a $35.4 million verdict to MacDermid Printing Solutions LLC in its breach of contract, antitrust and trade secrets theft suit against former business partner Cortron Corp., which stems from patent disputes with rival E.I. DuPont de Nemours and Co.
