The federal judge overseeing a patent infringement dispute over GPS technology has shot down defendant SiRF Technology Inc.'s bid to stay proceedings pending the re-examination of the patents in dispute by the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.

SiRF Technology Inc. has moved for sanctions against Broadcom Corp., claiming a McAndrews Held & Malloy Ltd. attorney representing the semiconductor manufacturer violated a protective order in a thorny patent infringement dispute over GPS technology.
