A New Jersey federal judge has vacated a jury's $400,000 award to a contractor's employee who accused a Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. unit of firing him for whistleblowing, saying the jury relied on improperly admitted evidence.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission warned a Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. unit on Friday that workers at its New Jersey nuclear plants might be frightened to report safety violations after a federal jury backed a contractor's employee who said he was fired for whistleblowing.
