A New York federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a Barnes & Noble Inc. shareholder's derivative suit against the company, saying he failed to show that board members' cozy relationship with CEO Leonard Riggio caused them to rubber-stamp moves that benefited Riggio but hurt the company.

Barnes & Noble Wants Derivative Suit Tossed
Barnes & Noble Inc. on Monday asked a New York federal court to toss a derivative class action claiming members of the bookstore chain's board of directors have mismanaged the company due to their allegedly cozy relationship with Chairman Leonard Riggio.
