Comprehensive Health Management Inc. asked a New York federal judge Friday to approve a $6.5 million settlement with 1,400 benefit consultants who claimed the managed care services provider intentionally misclassified them to avoid paying overtime.

A New York federal court on Wednesday allowed former Comprehensive Health Management Inc. employees to advance their federal claims alleging the managed care services provider failed to pay its benefits consultants overtime wages as a collective action and granted class certification of their state claims.
