Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB said it was dropping a Virginia trademark suit over broadband provider Clearwire Corp.'s logo on Friday after Clearwire announced that it had no immediate plans to launch a line of smartphones that would compete with Sony Ericsson's products.

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB on Friday accused Clearwire Corp. of attempting to gain an unfair competitive edge in the smartphone and mobile broadband markets by infringing a federally trademarked green-and-white swirl logo.
