Convicted gold smuggler and fraudster Roger C. Day Jr. was sentenced Thursday in Virginia federal court to 105 years in prison for scheming to defraud the U.S. Department of Defense of more than $11.2 million by selling the military faulty parts.

Roger C. Day Jr., who fled from New Jersey to Mexico in 2008 after being accused of selling more than $4.4 million in faulty parts to the U.S. military, was convicted Thursday by a Virginia federal jury on wire fraud, money laundering and gold smuggling charges.
