Pfizer Settles Chantix Suit Slated For Bellwether Trial
Pfizer Inc. reached an undisclosed settlement Tuesday with a Chantix user scheduled to be the first among more than 2,000 plaintiffs to go to trial in a massive multidistrict litigation alleging the company should have known the smoking cessation drug was linked to depression and suicidal behavior.

Pfizer Inc. on Wednesday asked the Eleventh Circuit to overturn an order compelling its CEO and two other employees to testify in person at a bellwether trial in multidistrict litigation over alleged dangerous side effects of smoking cessation drug Chantix, saying traveling to testify would put an unlawful burden on the employees.
