A federal judge has determined that an agreement requires Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. to assume full cost-sharing obligations, including the payment of all defense costs, in product liability cases involving Eli Lilly & Co.'s discontinued Parkinson's drug Permax.

As Eli Lilly and Co. faces product liability claims over its discontinued drug Permax, the drugmaker has sued Valeant Pharmaceuticals International to force the bridling licensee to shoulder its share of costs associated with litigation.
