A Virginia federal judge ruled Wednesday that a former Blackwater Worldwide contractor convicted of involuntary manslaughter for killing an Afghan civilian would not be allowed to return to Afghanistan while awaiting appeal.

A former Blackwater Worldwide contractor who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for killing an Afghan civilian asked a Virginia federal judge earlier this month to allow him to return to Afghanistan to work for another contractor for three months.
