A Connecticut federal judge rejected a bid Tuesday from Comcast Corp. to send a customer's putative class action antitrust suit to arbitration, holding that a class action waiver in an arbitration pact was void because pursuing the plaintiff's Sherman Act claim individually would be prohibitively costly.

Consumers have filed a proposed antitrust class action accusing Comcast Corp. of orchestrating an illegal tying arrangement by forcing digital voice customers to pay an additional fee to rent a specialized modem.
