A group of white firefighters who won their discrimination case before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2009 agreed on Wednesday to accept about $2 million from New Haven, Conn., to resolve their claims for damages in federal court.

A federal judge has ordered the city of New Haven, Conn., to reinstate scrapped promotional exams from 2003 and allow 14 firefighters to advance ranks, following the orders of the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark reverse discrimination ruling.
