A federal jury found Tuesday that Olivera Egg Ranch LLC neglected to reduce ammonia emissions at a French Camp, Calif., egg-laying facility, awarding $544,000 in damages in a suit launched by residents and The Humane Society of the United States.

Neighbors of an egg farm suing the facility for failing to report noxious ammonia emissions have asked a federal judge to reconsider sanctioning the defendant for allegedly destroying evidence when it excavated a manure lagoon central to the case.
