Merck's $688M Vytorin Settlement Wins Judge's Nod
A New Jersey federal judge on Tuesday approved a $688 million settlement to settle claims that Merck & Co. Inc. and its subsidiary Schering-Plough Corp. concealed test results on the efficacy of their anti-cholesterol drug Vytorin, while also awarding $140 million in attorneys' fees.

Two special masters recommended Wednesday that a New Jersey federal court approve $140 million in attorneys' fees sought by class counsel who settled for $688 million two securities class actions alleging Merck & Co. and its Schering-Plough subsidiary hid test results on the efficacy of their anti-cholesterol drug Vytorin.
