A Vermont federal judge on Thursday threw out a suit over trade secrets and a noncompete agreement that OfficeMax Inc. brought against a former sales manager and his new employer, an OfficeMax rival.

OfficeMax Inc. has sued a former sales manager and his new employer, saying the manager broke a trades secrets and noncompete agreement when he resigned with no warning and started working for W.B. Mason Co.
