A Wisconsin federal jury on Wednesday determined that a Safeway Inc. subsidiary's infringement of a patent used in the computerized processing of gift cards merited a damages award of $3.5 million for rivals Interactive Communications International Inc. and its E2Interactive Inc. affiliate.
