A developer who pled guilty for his role in Pennsylvania's notorious "kids-for-cash" corruption scheme, in which judges accepted payments in exchange for supporting a series of for-profit youth detention facilities, was sentenced Friday to spend one year in federal prison and pay $250,000 in fines.

Federal prosecutors on Thursday accused Pennsylvania real estate developer Robert Mericle of violating a 2009 plea deal accepting responsibility for his role in the so-called 'kids for cash' scandal in which judges accepted payments in exchange for supporting a series of for-profit youth detention facilities.
