An Oklahoma federal judge ruled Tuesday that QEP Energy Co. has a fiduciary duty to a group of local mineral rights owners in a class action accusing the gas company and several others of not paying enough in royalties.

A federal judge has sided with Oklahoma mineral rights owners seeking to certify a class action against gas companies they say haven't been paying enough in royalties — but the class is smaller than the owners would have liked.
