DirectBuy Deal 'Valueless' To Most Of Class: Judge
A Connecticut federal judge shot down a settlement Monday that would have resolved five proposed consumer class actions against discount shopping club DirectBuy Inc., finding the overvalued deal would have shortchanged most of the 840,000 potential class members.

Purchasing club DirectBuy Inc. has agreed to settle a class action that accused it of misrepresenting to its members that they were buying merchandise that wasn't marked up, but very little of the deal involves cash payouts to plaintiffs.
