An Alabama federal judge tossed a suit Tuesday brought by Lafayette Insurance Co. against Chartis Specialty Insurance Co. over coverage for a nutritional supplement maker's settlement costs in a multidistrict product liability litigation, ruling the claims did not belong in federal court.

Lafayette Insurance Co. is arguing that it has exhausted its policy limits in covering product liability claims for a supplement manufacturer and that excess insurer Chartis Specialty Insurance Co. should pick up the remaining coverage responsibilities.
