German medical laser maker Biolitec AG sought to disqualify a Massachusetts federal judge from its intellectual property indemnification dispute with medical device manufacturer AngioDynamics Inc. on Wednesday, after he allegedly compared Biolitec's merger in violation of his preliminary injunction to spitting on the court.

Biolitec Held In Contempt Over Merger In AngioDynamics Row
A Massachusetts federal judge on Thursday granted medical device manufacturer AngioDynamics Inc.'s emergency motion for contempt against specialty laser firm Biolitec AG and Biomed Technology Holdings Co. for allegedly violating a preliminary injunction in an intellectual property indemnification suit by completing the downstream merger of Biolitec into its Austrian subsidiary.

AngioDynamics Wins $16.5M Over Biolitec IP Indemnification
A federal judge in New York has ordered specialty laser firm Biolitec Inc. to hand over $16.5 million to medical device manufacturer AngioDynamics Inc. for failing to shield the company from patent infringement claims related to varicose vein treatments, Angio announced Thursday.
