File-sharing website owner Hotfile Corp. lodged a counterclaim in Florida on Monday accusing Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. of misusing an anti-piracy tool to wrongfully delete thousands of files in which it had no copyright interest.

A Florida federal judge ruled Friday that Disney Enterprises and others failed to show Hotfile Corp. willfully uploaded copyrighted material to its file sharing site, nixing a direct infringement claim in a suit alleging it pirated thousands of TV shows and movies.
