A Texas federal judge on Thursday vacated an earlier sanctions order against a Houston attorney who had been blamed for pursuing frivolous Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act claims, saying that the defendants failed to comply with safe harbor provisions of the sanctions law.

A man who for six years defended against allegations he participated in a racketeering scheme before a jury axed them earlier this year asked a Texas federal judge Tuesday not to reconsider the sanctions he ordered against the men who brought the suit and their attorney.
