After a U.S. Supreme Court ruling made it easier to win enhanced damages in patent cases, a Michigan federal judge ruled Wednesday that Zimmer Inc. must pay over $248 million for willfully infringing Stryker Corp.'s surgical tool patents, calling it "a case of egregious piracy."
