An Indiana federal judge on Tuesday rejected a suit brought by two environmental groups challenging the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' construction of an Interstate 69 extension, ruling that the Corps properly permitted a section of the 142-mile long, $3 billion project and fully considered its environmental impact.

Indiana's biggest environmental group agreed Wednesday to drop part of the complaint it filed last year accusing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers of wrongly permitting a $3 billion, 142-mile highway extension project the group claims is destroying wetlands.
