JPMorgan Beats Silver Market Manipulation MDL
A New York federal judge on Monday killed a multidistrict litigation over claims that JPMorgan Chase & Co. violated antitrust laws by artificially suppressing prices for silver futures, saying the plaintiffs failed to show that JPMorgan manipulated the market to reap profits.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. told a New York federal judge Wednesday its large bet against silver during the financial crisis may have amounted to simple hedging, denying putative class action claims that it sought to manipulate the market and reap outsize profits.

JPMorgan Denies Silver Manipulation Class Action Claims
JPMorgan Chase & Co. on Monday moved to drop antitrust allegations that the investment bank conspired to manipulate the price of silver futures, saying the class of plaintiffs hadn't demonstrated that JPMorgan had any role in manipulating the market.
