A Nevada federal judge on Monday approved a class action settlement worth up to $19.5 million between Yerington, Nev., residents and Atlantic Richfield Co. and BP America Inc. involving groundwater contamination from operations at the former Anaconda copper mine, a Superfund site.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday reached a nearly $1 million settlement with Atlantic Richfield Co. over cleanup costs at the site of a contaminated former copper mine in northern Nevada.
